Mad World - Gary Jules

The original video of Mad World. (the one by Gary Jules, of course. By original, I meant the actual Gary Jules one, not the Donnie Darko one. There. Happy? I am heavily aware of the fact that TFF did a video long before Gary. I knew before I posted the video. You'd think that one of the progenitor of the video would know these things.) Throughout the video children are making animated figures on the sidewalk below. (the song was featured in the movie Donnie Darko. If you haven't seen it, seriously consider it.)

Oh, -please-. I hardly call that a high voice. Go listen to James Blunt... his voice is so high-pitched, he sings like someone's got his balls clamped in a vise.

*ahem* Where's your proof that he never got permission? If you SAY that he never got permission but have no PROOF, then Gary Jules would be within his rights to sue you for libel... Nor is Gary the ONLY one to have done a cover of this song. Nicola Sirkis, Finch, Brainclaw, Evergreen Terrace, The Ninjas, Impact, Familiar Faces, Die Toten Hosen, Closterkeller, The Red Paintings, The Makeshift Heroes, Dresden Dolls... to name just a handful.

Just caught this for the first time on A&E's The Cleaner. It's one of those shows that, happily, credits the episode's artist in a short blurb. I wish more would do that; I think it's a great idea. I came across Clannad the first time thru a Volkswagen TV ad that actually showed, in the corner of the screen for a couple of seconds, "music by Clannad." Props and kudos to them! So often you hear something new and captivating and there's no chance of knowing what it was! TAIHTS..
